While most people were familiar with their depot, just a few feet down the track was the railroad's real moneymaker: the Freight House. Its trackside loading platform and truck-height, streetside loading doors allowed the easy transfer of cargo and Railway Express Agency parcels between box cars or reefers and local delivery trucks.
