Introduced at the end of 1943, the British Churchill Mk. VII tank demonstrated its worth during the Normandy invasion while supporting Allied infantry units. Based on the diamond-shaped A20 infantry tank, the improved Churchill tank was released with even more combat power, incorporating experience from actual battles. Different than its previous models, it was even more heavily armored and featured a redesigned turret and 75mm gun. It was one of the heaviest Allied tanks of the war with a top speed of about 13mph.
